National BioResource Project (NBRP) Zebrafish
https://shigen.nig.ac.jp/zebra/
Zebrafish is the simplest model vertebrate animal for genetic approaches. Genome information and embryo manipulation techniques have been accumulated worldwide, making it an important model animal in basic biological research and studies of human diseases. The number of mutant and genetically modified strains is rapidly increasing. As part of the National BioResource Project, this project has established a system for collecting and preserving the zebrafish strains generated in Japan and providing them for experimental use around the world.
RIKEN is contributing to promoting this project as the core institute with Hitoshi Okamoto, Visiting Senior Investigator, as the principal researcher (https://www.hitoshi-okamoto-research.com)
