研究内容

脳の中で神経が情報をやりとりすることによって、私たちは言葉を理解し、考え、記憶し、そして心をときめかせます。そのやりとりの方法には、神経どうしがシナプスを作って接続して直接伝達する方法と、脳内の液さらには血液を介して広く伝える方法があります。「今日は気分が良くない」、「眠くなってきたなぁ」など、伝達はゆっくりでも脳のさまざまな反応に影響を与える後者の情報伝達について調べています。特に、メラトニンというホルモンの合成・伝達に着目し、生理反応や精神機能との関連を研究しています。
