研究内容

私たちは、脳刺激と神経画像技術を組み合わせて、被験者が意識的にどのように見ているのかを研究しています。特に注目しているのは、外部からの刺激がない状態で知覚するような体験が起こる「心象」です。興味深いことに、被験者の中には、心象を鮮明に体験できない人がいます。私たちは、幻視と呼ばれる状態がどのようにして起こるのかを理解しようと努めています。そして、この状態が記憶処理にどのような結果をもたらすかを解明できるように研究を進めます。最大の目標は、意識に関する神経生物学的理論を構築することですが、トラウマに関連するフラッシュバックや幻覚などの脳疾患の治療にも、研究成果が応用できるのではないかと考えています。
