Job description

The Laboratory for Neurodiversity (Moore) at RIKEN is looking for a Part-time worker. The worker is required to carry out animal breeding, animal genetics, molecular biology (animal genotyping, in situ probe generation etc.), section preparation, advanced immunohistochemistry, mRNA in situ analysis, quantitation and phenotypic analysis of stained sections

Qualifications

Educational background

The applicant should meet the following criteria.
Has knowledge or experience equivalent to that of a person with a doctoral degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program and if a non-Japanese citizen, fulfills all of the following conditions:

  1. Can verify having Permission to Engage in Activity other than that Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted
  2. Does not have a concurrent position outside of RIKEN
  3. Works no more than 28 hours per week

Experience and knowledge

Experienced and skilled in (animal breeding, animal genetics, molecular biology (animal genotyping, in situ probe generation etc.), section preparation, advanced immunohistochemistry, mRNA in situ analysis, quantitation and phenotypic analysis of stained sections) and at least 3 years of previous laboratory experience. The ability to function effectively in a diverse team will be considered strongly in selection. A working level of English is required.

Salary and benefits

Hourly salary

1400-1600 JPY(salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Allowance

commuting allowance provided (within a pre-determined range.)

Contract period

2020/4/1~2021/3/31
Annual contract renewable upon agreement of both sides, based on skills, work amount at the expiry of the contract, work performance, RIKEN’s financial conditions , and others. Total duration may not exceed 5 years, in principle. (Note: For persons applying from within RIKEN, total years of employment at RIKEN may not exceed 5 years in total, counting from April 1, 2013. Other provisions are the same as for a new hire.) Please refer “RIKEN employment duration for fixed-term employees” for more details if necessary

Working days and hours

within 28 hours/week with daily working hours either as below:

  1. From 9:00 am to 5:20 pm
  2. In stipulated one-hour units between 9:00 am and 5:20 pm

Holidays

Saturdays and Sundays, Japanese National Holidays, Year-end and New Year (Dec. 29 - Jan 3), and RIKEN Foundation Day (4th Monday in October).

Others

Worker’s accident compensation insurance applies. Social insurance will be applied depending on the working conditions

Compulsory welfare program: workers’ accident compensation insurance
No smoking on campus except the allowance area
